I thought this Once Upon a Dream song feels very appropriate for memory loss boyfriends, and I figured it could have made a great soundtrack to the Cap 2 ending if it went a little something like this!

I’m literally shipping Bucky&Rumlow right now. ‘Rucky’ (I named it myself).
As you may know. Rumlow is the leader of STRIKE team. and in the movie he tended to look at Bucky like he has some kind of affection towards him before he left.
(FYI In the comic, his alias is actually Crossbones, so some of my friend name this ship Winterbones too LMAO)

This is the first time you really see a sense of self-preservation coming from him (I mean in terms of him actually looking afraid of dying/being hurt). I mean, he really looks afraid that Steve is coming to finish him off.

I kinda wonder if undue stress causes his programming to break down a bit. He seems the most human when things aren’t going his way (Natasha shooting him, Natasha shorting out his arm, Steve calling him by some weird name, being trapped here), and he looks much more like Bucky.

He exhibits fear when they’re about to electroshock him too. I mean that’s the problem with trying to turn a human into a machine. He’s NOT. No matter how much they program him, the fact always remains that he’s human. He can’t function without that part of him and they’re at the mercy of repressing part of him, but never completely erasing the fact that he’s still got emotions there. When things are going correctly he doesn’t have to access emotion at all. Do things 1,2, and 3 and you’re done with your job. Boom boom boom. But when things go WRONG…Suddenly he’s having to adapt and get creative and get frustrated and get SCARED because it’s not going in order and disorder breeds emotions he can’t help but access. He doesn’t have a choice.

So basically the self destruct code for the Winter Soldier was a missions going horribly awry and him being in a constant state of stress. It starts with Natasha and his inability to beat her on the street, then he can’t quite figure out what to do with Steve who then RECOGNIZES HIM, then he’s electroshocked…by that point he’s just a mess emotionally. No wonder he falls apart almost immediately the first time he has to access any emotions fighting Steve. He was in turmoil for days.
